Okay, please let me brag on my kids for a little. I know...I know, but can you indulge me a bit. We had a great weekend at the beach. It was one of those trips that I wasn't really looking all that forward to, but once we got there it was great. My kids were so much fun.
We didn't even hit the beach once, Chris' Aunt Janet (the one with the beach house) was up in the mountains, so instead we spent our days at the pool. The pool is easier on Chris, not having to navigate the sand and he enjoys it more, so we all had a great time.
Makaley is now swimming entire lengths of pools underwater. It's so much fun to watch your children take huge leaps in their abilities...you know? She is also growing more and more fond of books. We read quite a bit over the weekend. We've always read to our children, but Makaley really hasn't been all the interested...she likes to make up stories to the pictures of books rather than read the story written. But I enjoyed reading to her and seeing how eager she was to find out more about the story. Makaley also ate shrimp for the first time and loved it. (that's my girl) One of her favorite things to do at Poppy's is to play his keyboard using the micraphone and playing the ramancia (harmonica). She pretends she's leading worship. I went upstairs and she had the micraphone in one hand and her other hand raised.
Micah brought home his "friday folder" which had all the tests that they have had over the last 2 weeks of school ...all in all about 10 papers. All with 100% on them...with the exception of one that had 98%. I couldn't be prouder. He so enjoys learning...we were at church on Sunday and on the power point screen the background was clouds and he tugs on my shirt and says "mom, those are cirus clouds" he proceeded to explain to me the water cycle. Yes, I had to tell him in the middle of worship that I wanted to hear all about this, but he needed to concentrate on worship.
Micah went golfing with Poppy...played 5 holes. Really is doing great. Makaley was of course bummed that she couldn't go, but she and I planned a special time crafting.
We of course had a big seafood bake with crabs and shrimp. Such yummy food.
Both kids didn't want to leave their grandparents. They had so much fun with them. I'm so thankful for my in laws...so thankful.
My kids are growing up...I look at these pictures and I can see how much they have changed just in a year. I'm so proud of who they are. So proud to be their mom, so thankful that God gave them to us, don't want them to grow up, but excited to see what how God is going to use them.
I hope you all had a very fun and relaxing weekend. I'm thankful that Gustav wasn't nearly as bad as they had thought. I'm thankful that people took the warnings seriously. To my friend Liz, who just moved back to New Oleans this summer, after having to leave during Katrina...I hope you all are safe...I've been thinking about you a lot these past couple days. I can't imagine what goes through your mind.
